About
The problem it solves Many streaming platforms and creators depend on crowdsourced or crowdfunded support from their audiences. However, most crowdfunding solutions involve traditional payments, leading to challenges such as fraudulent donations & chargebacks, high fees from streaming platforms, and complications with international banking payments for different regions. Despite these major problems for nearly a decade, livestream crowdfunding is still largely successful. Some effort in has been made to PoC crypto payments for streamers, but are generally a low TRL score, and a market ready multi-chain product to solve these problems for streamers is yet to arrive. Introducing stream.gift, the next-gen fundraising platform for streamers using Solana & QuickNode. Donate to your favorite streamers via SOL. TTS donations and compatible on Twitch & Kick. stream.gift uses the Quicknode RPC & Stream websockets, & IPFS connections
How it's made
Challenges we ran into We started this version stream.gift in September utilizing Quicknode the entire process. We found out about this hackathon while participating in Build Station Toronto from Superteam Canada. As a Solana based project, we intended to utilize Quicknode Streams and or Quicknode Functions. Unfortunately, Functions are not available on Solana, and the slots for beta for Solana Streams was full upon signing up. IPFS implementation was a bit difficult and we intended to implement this before the start of the hackathon but decided to wait for Build-On to get started. We wish there was more emphasis of documentation or required parameters on the dashboard for IPFS. Ultimately as we aim to provide multi-chain support for streamers, we see Quicknode as a possible solution to improving our service, functionality, and developer experience across chains. We hope to see more Solana based Marketplace Addons in the future as well.
