Real Estate DeFi and Tokenization
About
The problem it solves Traditional real estate investment poses significant challenges for smaller investors, including high capital requirements, limited liquidity, and a lack of transparency. Verifying property ownership, managing fractional ownership, and distributing rental income are often inefficient and time-consuming processes. These barriers exclude many individuals from participating in real estate markets and slow the integration of decentralized finance (DeFi) with real-world assets. # How It Works and Benefits Users SecuritiFi is a decentralized platform that uses blockchain technology and Chainlink services to tokenize real estate properties, making them accessible, liquid, and transparent. By breaking properties into fractional ERC-1155 tokens, it allows users to invest with minimal capital, trade their shares easily, and receive automated rental income. Here’s how people can use it and how it improves existing tasks: - For Retail Investors: Individuals can purchase fractional ownership in properties, diversify their investment portfolios, and earn passive income from rent—all without needing substantial upfront capital. This lowers the entry barrier compared to traditional real estate investment. - For Asset Managers: Property owners or managers can tokenize assets, manage fractional ownership, and automate rent distribution through Chainlink’s trustless oracles and automation tools. This reduces administrative workload and minimizes errors in financial operations. - For DeFi Users: Tokenized real estate can be used as collateral to borrow stablecoins, unlocking liquidity while retaining exposure to property value growth. Real-time pricing from Chainlink Data Feeds ensures accurate collateral valuation.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into # A Key Challenge in Building SecuritiFi: Chainlink Functions Integration While developing SecuritiFi, a decentralized real estate tokenization platform, one of the most significant hurdles I faced was integrating Chainlink Functions to enable off-chain property verification. This feature was critical for fetching real-world property data securely, but the setup process threw some unexpected bugs my way. The Bug: Subscription ID Configuration Failure What Happened Chainlink Functions requires a subscription ID to manage off-chain computation requests. After deploying my smart contract (e.g., PropertyVerification.sol) to the Sepolia testnet, I attempted to configure it with a subscription ID created via the Chainlink Functions dashboard. However, every time I called the function to send a request (e.g., sendRequest()), the transaction reverted with an error: "Subscription not funded" or "Invalid subscription ID", even though I had: Funded the subscription with LINK tokens. Set the subscription ID in the contract constructor.
