About
The problem it solves Scholar Chain is a decentralized platform that automates academic publishing with on-chain escrow and NFT proof of publication. Authors submit manuscripts and pay fees in IDRX stablecoin directly to a smart contract. Publishers review submissions, record decisions on-chain, and once accepted, the contract releases funds and mints an NFT for the author as a permanent publication record. With Scholar Chain, authors gain trustless payment security and verifiable proof of publication, publishers benefit from automated escrow and clear deadlines, and developers can extend or integrate the system into other Web3 research tools.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Heterogeneous OJS Different publishers run diverse OJS versions with custom themes and schemas. Integrating all of them requires conditional logic and ongoing maintenance. API Standardization OJS REST endpoints vary across releases and installations. We built a dynamic negotiation layer to detect API versions, adapt requests, and fall back to legacy routes. Authentication Connector Our OJS connector handles OAuth2 flows and token translation, allowing publishers to keep existing credentials while securely communicating with Scholar Chain. Data Mapping Metadata fields (titles, authors, review status) differ in naming, format, and encoding. Normalization routines and conflict-resolution policies keep data in sync. Transaction Atomicity Publishing involves token transfers and NFT minting on-chain plus metadata updates off-chain. A two-phase commit pattern ensures funds and records are never left in an inconsistent state. Scholar Chain can revolutionize scholarly publishing by unifying multiple OJS back-ends into one seamless platform, simplifying submissions for authors without disrupting publishers’ workflows. With proper support, all these challenges can be handled effectively, and the project will run smoothly. Authors will be able to find credible journals effortlessly, greatly expanding the market size and boosting transaction value in IDRX and on Lisk. Scholar Chain is poised to become the new standard for academic article publication.
