The problem it solves Habits don't change easily. We believe, incentives can change people's habits and can help to solve the problem of saving water. But, Is there a way to change habits without getting bankrupt, paying out incentives? In an a city like Bangalore, its imperative to inculcate the habit to save water. Our solution focuses on empowering incentive sponsors (like Government/NGOs) to help people save water and inculcate the habit of saving water by giving out incentives in a controlled manner. We achieve this using a pledging platform. Sponsors can start a Auction, inviting Users or Housing complexes to pledge for saving water and ask for an incentive in return. The pledging platform maximises the utility function of both stakeholders and chooses & notifies the top pledgers who offer best value in terms of Incentive Asked per Litre of Water Saved. These pledges along with the incentive asked gets recorded as a BLIND bid on the platform for a given auction. The platform then checks pledges using a smart water meter as per the pledged litres and automatically incentivizes the pledge keepers. We do this in a decentralized manner where BIND and BLIND properties of an auction are preserved. We leverage AZTEC's ZKP for BLINDING of bids on the chain and escrows for BINDING. It can be proved using AZTEC Range Proofs and Ratio Proofs about the computation of the top pledgers for the auction. This will lead to fairness in the auction economy. We can also use Vickrey's auction mechanism to enable stakeholders realize the true value of saving a litre of water in different scenarios. This is possible with the help of decentralized governance realized through Smart Contracts + ZKP. We believe a powerful usecase like this can convince the Government about the potential of Blockchain, which is one of the pressing issues that we as Blockchain Devs are facing in India now.
