Smart, secure payments for schools & events

About
The problem it solves Many schools and educational institutions still rely on cash or fragmented payment systems for daily transactions such as canteen purchases, stationery, and event payments. This creates several challenges: Lack of transparency: Parents cannot track how or where money is spent. Security risks: Cash handling increases the risk of loss, theft, and misuse. Poor spending control: Students can overspend without limits or accountability. Event payment issues: School events and fests face coupon fraud, manual reconciliation, and operational inefficiency. No intelligent insights: Existing systems provide no data-driven understanding of spending behavior. SamayPay solves these problems by offering a secure, cashless, and transparent payment system built on blockchain (Solana) and powered by Google Cloud and Gemini AI. It enables controlled spending, real-time visibility, tamper-proof transaction records, and intelligent insights—making everyday payments and events safer, simpler, and smarter.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into One of the main challenges was integrating blockchain transactions with a smooth, real-time user experience. Blockchain operations are asynchronous, which initially caused delays in UI updates. We addressed this by separating UI confirmation from on-chain settlement and using backend validation with real-time updates. Another challenge was coordinating multiple technologies—RFID hardware, cloud backend, blockchain (Solana), and AI (Gemini). Ensuring reliable communication between these layers required careful architecture design, logging, and fallback handling. We also faced difficulty in converting raw transaction data into meaningful insights. Designing effective prompts and outputs for Gemini took multiple iterations to ensure the insights were simple, accurate, and useful for non-technical users. Overall, these challenges helped us improve our system design, debugging skills, and ability to build reliable full-stack solutions under time constraints.
