About
Why are you participating for Based Africa? I am African (from South AFRICA) I like the blockchain and Base's suit of technology because it enables us Africans to unlock new markets in our continent by solving web3 and african related problems across a host of fields. Additional Features This is the initial project so just looking for more stakeholders, contributors, funding, volunteers, marketers and developers to adopt the protocol, to continuously improve and iterate this project into its possible best state for the benefit of humankind.
How it's made
What challenges are you focusing on? The technological tech stack throughout web3 is brilliant and the industry is ready to onboard billions of more users. However, the challenge I picked up is that crypto does not feel like money to people in my community - perhaps even throughout the continent - so they are stuck to what works for them: use cash because it feels like money. This unfamiliarity has created a barrier to increased crypto adoption. How does your submission address this challenge? My goals is to make crypto indistinguishable from money. The best way to do it, in my view currently, is to turn money or cash into a Real World Asset leveraging both non-fungibility and fungibility. So I created Rwandr. Rwandr leverages the unofficial ERC404 EIP to create a Rwandr token and a Rwandr Cash NFT token within the same contract. 1 Rwandr ERC20 Token maps to 1 Rwandr Cash NFT. The NFT is the cash bill that represents one Rwandr Token. Challenges we ran into The first week I could not find an idea. I had no real idea. I wanted to solve a real problem that when solved advances humanity and also web3 in my community, continent and even the global community atlarge. I patiently waited and the idea came to make crypto cash-like because maybe this would diminsh some of the push-factors that repelled everyday south africans and africans from making use of blockchain. I discovered ERC404 - An unofficial EIP standard. Toegethrer with the use of this standard, 90hardhat I got straight to work and started piecing together a functional MVP-project. I deployed the contract live on Base mainnet (0xb4ca4966d5d3D19ABff5024e125B82A929B73768), however, I did not have enough funds to initialise the pool on uniswap so that I can create a market and also integreate the project iinto a swap-base OnchainKit adpatation to have a presentable dapp. However, I welcome some prize money to take my prject further because it works - hence why i resorted to showing its functionality through a metmask transaction. Upon receiving funding, I will have enough funds to intiilaise a pool and then complete my OnchainKit swap-frontend integration. During the office hours and workshops, one the mentors from Base encouraged one of the particpants to go open source so I was inspired by this to help improve the protocol and the project by establishing Rwandr Foundation. I believe that this will help Rwandr go local, continental and international into a global network of evergrowing "web3ists" (proponents of web3 or web3 users).
