    About

The problem it solves ![image](https://assets.devfolio.co/content/c6f8d75ec0f94960afd649e3f137041d/5df70203-9e8b-4184-99b8-9cf4511f0e5c.png) Today **noone has a simple, trustless and decentralized way to monetize direct messaging and offer services in an easy and fair way**. You either rely on centralized platforms, cobble together a bespoke website, or hope clients use PayPal + email. Buyers, meanwhile, have no guarantee they’ll get a response after payment, and there is no easy way to discover and vet new providers. **PingGate** brings it all together A **decentralized and powerful** webapp with a wallet to wallet **chat-marketplace** powered by XMTP, onchain on Base, and also integrated to Farcaster feed through their Miniapps system. And working on new Coinbase Wallet feed compatibility too! It can be used as standard secure wallet to wallet chat as any XMTP client, but the **unique features of PingGate** are: - **Fast inbox screen** A new concept of fast accessibility has been born in our Pings Inbox. You can open any conversation there with the last 5 messages, and answer directly instead going in/out of the conversations every time. Similar as answering from the notification itself in mobile, applied to chats. - **Marketplace** Anyone can publish one or more services, from there their PingGate inbox will be gated and people can unlock it by buying a service. - **Social Web3 Integration** Available in Farcaster feeds, links to profiles and conversations are feed integrated too. Farcaster notifications. - **Names compatibility** Try to start a chat with anyone with a Farcaster user, ENS or Basename, or just use a wallet address. - **Explore** Search experts, sellers, consultory or anyone offering any service in PingGate, guided by the reviews system. - **Reviews system** Reputation is built onchain: buyers submit 0-5 reviews (quality, communication, timeliness), auto-calculated into an average rating. **What will be next?** I got a lot of ideas for PingGate but just couldn't do everything during the contest period. But I really want to continue improving this! the next steps for PingGate will be: - Escrow system, giving more security to users and preventing misusage - Deeper integration with XMTP capabilities - Support for stablecoins (other tokens? fiat?) - More utility in-chat - Chat groups - More decentralization, community owned contracts (DAO) ![image](https://assets.devfolio.co/content/c6f8d75ec0f94960afd649e3f137041d/4a152293-bb7b-4ec3-b82f-ea727b58cddb.png) **Contract and repository in the Project links! As well as website link and Farcaster miniapp link.**

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into I leaned heavily on **continuous user feedback** to guide every iteration. This isn't easy as everyone has their own preferences, and **finding the right balance** takes time and constant refinement. That’s why I keep iterating and improving. Striking the balance between **power and simplicity** was another challenge, especially in the UI. Some users feel overwhelmed when presented with too much at once. I addressed this by combining direct feedback with careful analysis and multiple iterations to simplify without removing essential functionality. Working with XMTP itself was challenging at the beginning, but it has well structured code and docs that helped a lot during the process. Bringing everything together, refining the UI, fine tuning the smart contract, testing its security... required **rigorous effort in testing and changes**. And it’s far from done. Perfection doesn’t really exist; it’s more of a mindset to always keep improving. Each challenge reinforced the importance of **resilient design**: graceful fallbacks, inline validation, and constantly asking: “**What would make this feel magical for the user? What would I need?**” That’s the mindset I build with, and always will. The **hardest** part has been working alone. I'm a team guy, but circumstances are what they are. That’s why I deeply appreciate everyone who tested, gave feedback, or supported PingGate in any way. Thanks.
