About
Why are you participating for Based Africa? I’m motivated to participate in this hackathon for Africa because I see the potential of blockchain technology in transforming economies and financial systems, especially in regions where access to affordable financial services is limited. Blockchain, particularly the Base network, can provide transparency, low fees, and financial inclusion to communities that need it the most. I’m excited to contribute to this movement and help address regional challenges using innovative technology.
How it's made
What challenges are you focusing on? In many African regions, blockchain transactions can still be costly, and users may face difficulties optimizing fees, leading to inefficient use of resources. My project aims to address the challenge of unpredictable gas fees that can hinder everyday users and developers from fully leveraging blockchain technology. How does your submission address this challenge? The Gas Optimizer tool helps users track real-time gas prices on the Base blockchain and predict the optimal times for transactions based on historical data. By doing this, users can save on fees and make more informed decisions about when to conduct their transactions. This can lower barriers to entry for small-scale users and developers, making blockchain more accessible and affordable. Challenges we ran into I ran into challenges with fetching real-time gas data from blockchain APIs, as some APIs were either unreliable or had limited historical data. To overcome this, I implemented fallback mechanisms using multiple data sources and adjusted the prediction model to be more flexible when data was sparse. I also faced challenges with optimizing the prediction algorithm, but after refining it using a simpler historical average method, I was able to strike a balance between simplicity and effectiveness.
