    About

The problem it solves The decentralized social media application is designed to empower authorized citizens, granting them exclusive access to various features such as account creation, posting, commenting, and liking. To ensure the integrity of the platform, individuals seeking to become users must undergo a stringent verification process. This involves uploading their Aadhar QR code, a secure and government-issued identification document, to validate their citizenship status and establish themselves as authorized users within the network. It's important to note that while Aadhar details are utilized for verification purposes, they are never stored on-chain, maintaining user privacy and adhering to data protection regulations. Integral to the architecture of the application is the utilization of the Vara Network, a revolutionary decentralized database storage solution. Vara Network pioneers the world's first decentralized database storage infrastructure, offering unparalleled security and reliability for storing sensitive user data. By leveraging the Vara Network, the social media application ensures that user information, including posts, comments, and likes, is securely stored off-chain, protecting it from unauthorized access while maintaining the decentralization ethos of the platform. With a focus on user empowerment and data security, the decentralized social media application provides a robust and transparent platform for citizens to engage, share, and connect with one another. By combining cutting-edge technology with a commitment to privacy and decentralization, the platform sets a new standard for social media, ushering in a future where users have full control over their online identities and interactions.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into Developing a decentralized social media application on Vara Network presented numerous challenges. Installing Rust, vital for its robustness, proved cumbersome, particularly on Linux and Windows systems, demanding intricate configurations. Rust's unfamiliar syntax posed a learning curve for our team, necessitating extensive research and adaptation. Coordinating dependencies between Yarn and npm added complexity, requiring meticulous synchronization. Implementing Aadhar QR code verification for user authentication posed significant hurdles due to cryptographic intricacies and resource-intensive processing. Anonymously verifying Aadhar QR codes proved time-consuming, hampering workflow efficiency. Integrating WebAssembly introduced further complexity, demanding familiarity with new tools and libraries. Despite these challenges, perseverance and collaboration enabled us to deliver a resilient social media application. Overcoming obstacles reinforced the importance of adaptability and teamwork in navigating intricate blockchain ecosystems like Vara. Our experience underscores the resilience required for developing decentralized applications in emerging technologies.
