About
The problem it solves Staying motivated to maintain a regular fitness routine can be challenging, especially when rewards feel abstract or out of reach. Traditional fitness apps provide step tracking, but they often lack tangible incentives that keep users engaged in the long run. Our decentralized fitness tracker solves this by offering a gamified experience, where users are rewarded with Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) for completing fitness milestones. These NFTs can be redeemed for discounts at partnered brands, turning physical activity into real-world rewards. Additionally, each milestone unlocks an upgrade for the user’s Pokémon character, adding a fun and interactive layer to their fitness journey. This combination of blockchain-powered rewards and gamification makes the task of staying active more engaging, rewarding, and enjoyable, motivating users to keep moving while earning both digital and real-world perks.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Building this project introduced several challenges, particularly as we ventured into new technology stacks and ecosystems. Some of the key hurdles included: New to the Sui Ecosystem: As we were new to the Sui blockchain, understanding its unique architecture and features posed a learning curve. It took some time to familiarize ourselves with the ecosystem, but through extensive documentation review and community support, we were able to get up to speed. Integration with Sui Contracts: The process of integrating with Sui smart contracts was tricky. We encountered some initial difficulties in interacting with the .move smart contracts on the Sui network, particularly in managing step tracking data and minting NFTs efficiently. Issues Publishing Contracts on Sui: We faced issues when attempting to publish the .move contracts on the Sui blockchain. There were occasional deployment errors, which required troubleshooting of the contract deployment process and fine-tuning of our contract code to meet Sui’s requirements. Integration of Unity Models in the Frontend: The task of integrating Unity models (for the Pokémon character upgrades) into the frontend was another challenge. Ensuring that the 3D models interacted seamlessly with the React Native app and didn’t hinder performance required optimization and adjustment, but after a few iterations, we achieved a smooth integration. Despite these obstacles, we were able to tackle each challenge through continuous learning, iterative development, and leveraging the support of both the Sui community and resources.
