    About

The problem it solves We’ve developed Medica, a comprehensive web-based health platform that uses AI to assist users in managing their medical needs. It combines intelligent features to provide real-time support, personalized health recommendations, and trusted medical services all in one place. 🔍 Key AI-Powered Features 💬 AI Health Chatbot – Conversational assistant for symptoms, remedies, and condition guidance 💊 Medicine Identifier – Upload a medicine image to get its name, usage, and side effects 🧾 Prescription Scanner – Upload a prescription to extract medicine names and dosage using AI 🧠 Disease Predictor – Get predictions based on input parameters (e.g., lung cancer, diabetes, dementia) 👨‍⚕️ Doctor Suggestion Engine – Recommends suitable specialists based on the user’s symptoms 📰 AI Health Blog Feed – Personalized feed of health blogs, tips, and news for awareness 🎙️ Voice-to-Text Interaction – Enables voice input for chatbot to improve accessibility 📍 Emergency Quick Access Panel – Instantly find nearby hospitals and call emergency services 🧮 AI-Based Personal Recommendations (BMI) – User inputs height and weight to get: BMI value Personalized diet tips Exercise recommendations Risk alerts (e.g., underweight, obesity-related conditions)

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into Integrating Multiple AI Modules Seamlessly Combining different AI components like chatbots, image recognition, and disease prediction into one smooth workflow was technically challenging. Ensuring real-time response from Python-based AI APIs while maintaining frontend responsiveness required careful backend API design and asynchronous handling. Prescription Image Clarity Extracting accurate text from handwritten prescriptions was tough due to varied handwriting styles and image quality. We had to experiment with image preprocessing techniques using OpenCV and Tesseract OCR to improve accuracy. Ensuring Personalization in Recommendations Building a BMI-based recommendation engine that provides relevant diet and exercise tips without sounding generic took time. We had to fine-tune the rules and AI logic to make responses feel personalized and medically reasonable. Time Constraints for Full Feature Integration With limited time, integrating every feature end-to-end (especially video, voice, maps, and emergency services) and ensuring cross-device compatibility was a challenge. We prioritized core features but plan to scale further. User Experience and Accessibility Designing a clean and intuitive UI that works well for all users, including elderly or non-tech-savvy users, took multiple iterations and feedback loops.
