    About

The problem it solves **LumenVault: Problem Solving, Applications, and Benefits** LumenVault is a web-based decentralized lending platform on the Celo blockchain, enabling borrowers to create borrow orders funded by lenders using cUSD, with CELO as collateral. It offers secure, low-cost, and accessible DeFi solutions, especially for underserved users. **Problems LumenVault Solves** **1. Limited Credit Access:** Enables unbanked users to create borrow orders via a web app, no KYC or bank account needed. **2. High Fees:** Removes intermediaries, using Celo’s low-cost transactions for cheaper loans. **3. Opaque Processes:** Ensures transparency with on-chain borrow orders and funding. **4. Slow Funding:** Automates loan creation and funding for near-instant cUSD disbursal. **5. Collateral Risks:** Secures CELO collateral in smart contracts, with auditable terms. **Applications** **1. Personal Loans:** Borrowers create orders for cUSD loans, funded by lenders for personal needs. **2. Microfinancing:** Entrepreneurs post orders for business funds, using CELO collateral. **3. Passive Income:** Lenders fund orders to earn cUSD interest. **4. Cross-Border Loans:** Supports global funding of borrow orders for remittances or trade. **5. Community Lending:** Enables group borrow orders for shared financial goals. **How LumenVault Improves Tasks** **1. Easier:** Borrowers create orders and lenders fund them via a simple web app, using phone-based Celo wallets. **2. Safer:** Smart contracts secure collateral and funds, with on-chain transparency reducing fraud. **3. Cheaper:** Low Celo fees and no middlemen cut costs. **4. Faster:** Instant order posting, funding, and disbursal via smart contracts. **5. Flexible:** Borrowers set terms; lenders choose orders to fund. **6. Secure:** Celo’s blockchain and audited contracts protect against hacks.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into **Challenges in Building LumenVault** While developing LumenVault, a web-based decentralized lending platform on the Celo blockchain, I faced significant hurdles. Below are two key challenges and how I resolved them. **Challenge 1:** Gas Estimation Failures in Borrow Order Creation **Hurdle:** Transactions for creating borrow orders failed with "gas estimation failed" errors on the Celo testnet, blocking borrowers from posting orders. **Impact:** This halted the core borrowing functionality and raised concerns about gas costs and blockchain compatibility. **Solution:** I manually set a higher gas limit for transactions, optimized the smart contract to reduce gas usage, and added user-friendly error messages. After redeploying and testing, borrow orders worked reliably. **Challenge 2:** Signer Mismatch During Order Funding Hurdle: Lenders faced "signer address mismatch" errors when funding borrow orders, as the wallet address didn’t align with the transaction signer. **Impact:** This prevented lenders from funding orders, breaking the lending flow and exposing potential security issues. **Solution:** I updated the signer configuration to sync with the active MetaMask wallet, added error handling, and tested thoroughly to ensure lenders could fund orders securely. **Conclusion** These challenges taught me to optimize for Celo’s gas model and ensure robust wallet integration, improving LumenVault’s reliability and user experience.
