About
The problem it solves Lawyerd addresses the pervasive issue of counterfeit goods and intellectual property (IP) infringement, which costs businesses billions of dollars annually and undermines consumer trust. Traditional methods of detecting and removing counterfeit items are labor-intensive, slow, and often ineffective. How Lawyerd Makes Existing Tasks Easier and Safer: - Efficient Reporting: Users can quickly report violations through an intuitive interface, providing links and evidence. The first report is rewarded significantly, encouraging vigilance and quick action. - Automated Takedowns: Lawyerd automates the process of identifying and removing counterfeit and IP-infringing content. By communicating directly with hosting providers, Lawyerd ensures swift action, minimizing the time counterfeit goods remain online. - Enhanced Awareness: By requiring users to share their reports on social media platforms like X (Twitter) and LinkedIn, Lawyerd increases visibility and awareness of counterfeit issues, helping to protect more consumers and brands. - Accessible Database: Projects can access a comprehensive database of reported violations, enabling them to take informed actions and track trends in IP infringement. - Customizable Services: Brands can choose from various service plans, including access to the violation database or full takedown services, tailored to their specific needs and legal capabilities.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into One of the main challenges we faced was transitioning from a Web2 to a Web3 company. Initially, our system was designed for a traditional Web2 environment, focusing on onboarding brands and handling IP violations through conventional methods. However, as we began to onboard more Web3 companies, we realized that leveraging the decentralized nature of Web3 could significantly enhance our capabilities. This transition was not without its hurdles: - Technical Integration: Adapting our existing infrastructure to accommodate blockchain technology and smart contracts required significant overhauls and new skill sets. We had to integrate secure on-chain verification processes, ensuring transparency and trust in our operations. - User Engagement: Initially, our system relied heavily on internal teams to detect violations. We recognized that empowering users to report violations could exponentially increase our detection capabilities. This shift required developing user-friendly reporting interfaces and incentivizing user participation through rewards. - Data Handling: Transitioning to a decentralized model also meant rethinking how we handle and store data. We needed to ensure that our solutions complied with data privacy regulations while leveraging blockchain for immutable and transparent records. By focusing on these areas and continually iterating our approach, we successfully overcame these challenges. We now offer a robust, Web3-enabled platform that empowers users and brands to collaboratively fight against IP violations.
