About
The problem it solves Decentralized identity (DID) is like a digital ID that you fully control without needing big companies or government systems to manage it for you. Imagine you have a single digital ID that you can use across different platforms, but you alone decide what information to share and with whom. Traditional online IDs, like those with social media or email providers, are stored and controlled by those companies, meaning they hold and can access all your personal data. This centralization creates risks: if the company has a data breach, your private information can be leaked. With DID, however, your data is kept private, secure, and spread out across a network, not stored in one place, so it’s much harder to hack or misuse. It’s built on blockchain or similar technology, making it very secure. You can use DID to prove your identity without having to give away unnecessary details – similar to showing a badge without revealing everything about yourself. This approach not only protects your privacy but also prevents companies from tracking you across multiple sites. In simple terms, DID allows you to keep control over your digital life and safely manage your identity online, reducing the risk of identity theft and giving you peace of mind.
