    ImportaPay

    One currency, global payout.

    About

The problem it solves ImportaPay is addressing the difficulty African retailers and mini importers face when trying to access the global market using local currencies. These entrepreneurs often struggle with FX bottlenecks, lack of access to secure global payment systems, and high remittance or transaction costs. ImportaPay offers a seamless, reliable financial platform that lets users pay international suppliers, receive funds, and conduct cross-border trade—directly from their local currency—without relying on traditional banks or unstable black-market FX channels. Smart Contract Address(es) 0x68C0939f09495a6C19E8fF805C65816a38007539 We deployed a Denvet paymaster contract to sponsor our user fee, but the West Africa base lead has asked us not to use it as he will connect us to Base paymaster credit program to access up to $15k in sponsored gas fee for our users. How it's made

Challenges we ran into **Our Journey: From Social Commerce to Building ImportaPay** Importa’s story began as a social commerce platform on WhatsApp, created to help African retailers and mini importers easily buy and sell across borders. Our vision was to make global trade feel local—letting users browse and order products from China or Turkey, pay in Naira, and receive goods seamlessly. And while demand was high, we quickly discovered a brutal truth: payments were the weakest link in the chain. Users couldn’t complete transactions easily. Payment gateways either rejected African cards or charged ridiculously high fees. Even when we tried partnering with established payment providers, we faced delayed settlements, trust issues, and high friction. The commerce engine was strong—but without a reliable payment backbone, it was nearly useless. That’s when we realized we needed to fix the foundation. So, we pivoted. We built ImportaPay, a fully independent, compliant, local and international banking platform for African retailers and importers. Unlike generic neobanks, ImportaPay was purpose-built for global commerce. We introduced: An in-app AI financial assistant to help users make smarter payment decisions Stablecoin infrastructure for instant, cross-border transactions at minimal cost A compliance-first architecture, giving us regulatory confidence and setting us apart Now, ImportaPay isn’t just a fintech app—it’s infrastructure. We’re proudly partnering with Unlimit Global, 9 Payment Service Bank, and are building on Base (by Coinbase) to support stablecoin-powered transactions for African users. Our mission remains the same: empower African entrepreneurs to trade globally, confidently, and without friction. But now, we’re doing it with better tools, better rails, and a stronger foundation.
