Challenges we ran into **Notable Obstacles and How We Overcame Them** **- Navigating Hong Kong’s Regulatory Framework for Gold-Backed Tokens** As one of the first tokenized gold projects in Hong Kong, aligning with evolving Virtual Asset and stablecoin regulations presented a significant legal and procedural challenge. We worked closely with legal counsel and a licensed precious metals custodian to ensure full compliance with Hong Kong’s licensing, audit, and disclosure standards. Establishing an SPV structure and audit-ready workflow with our custodian required multiple iterations and regulator consultations, but ultimately ensures Deepgold meets the city’s expected RWA compliance benchmarks. **- Implementing zk-MPC for Real-World Asset Verification** Integrating zero-knowledge multi-party computation (zk-MPC) to verify physical gold custody on-chain proved technically complex. We had to design a system that retrieves sensitive vault data (such as bar serials and weight) and transforms it into zk-proofs without exposing the raw data or creating attack surfaces. Coordinating between off-chain vault infrastructure and on-chain proof generation involved deep cryptographic work and performance optimization to make it feasible for regular proof publication. **- Building a Seamless Lending + AI Workflow Platform** Developing a unified user experience that covers gold purchase, DeFi lending, and AI-powered risk management was a major engineering challenge. We had to integrate smart contract interactions with Morpho (a leading Base-native lending protocol), while also embedding AgentKit-based AI agents capable of reading wallet data, monitoring positions, and suggesting strategies—all within a user-friendly frontend. Orchestrating this workflow securely and intuitively required tight coordination between smart contract development, frontend UX design, and backend orchestration logic.
