    About

Why are you participating for Based Africa? We are participating for Africa to support the growth of the blockchain ecosystem on the continent. Africa has a large population of young, tech-savvy individuals who are eager to explore emerging technologies like blockchain. By building simple and accessible decentralized applications, we can help educate and onboard more people to Web3, providing opportunities for creativity, financial inclusion, and technological advancement.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? We are focusing on the challenges of Web3 adoption and accessibility in Africa. Many people in the region are unfamiliar with blockchain technology and do not know where to begin. There is a need for simple, hands-on experiences that make blockchain approachable for beginners. How does your submission address this challenge? HelloBaseNFT addresses these challenges by providing an easy-to-use dApp that lets users mint a custom "Hello World" NFT on the Base blockchain. The project introduces people to blockchain concepts like wallet connection, smart contracts, and NFTs in a fun and interactive way. This helps reduce the barriers to entry for Web3 technology, making it more accessible to those in Africa who are new to the space. Challenges we ran into Wallet Integration: Integrating MetaMask for wallet connections and user authentication required additional research to ensure a seamless experience across different browsers and devices. This was resolved by using the ethers.js library for interacting with MetaMask and implementing user prompts for connection issues. Network Setup: Configuring the dApp to work with the Base blockchain required proper setup of the network parameters in the deployment scripts and Hardhat configuration. The issue was resolved by carefully following the Base network's documentation and testing the deployment multiple times.
