FoodBridge
The Bridge Between Waste and Want.
About
The problem it solves This project addresses the issue of food wastage and hunger by creating a bridge between food donors (like restaurants, events, households) and needy individuals or NGOs. It ensures surplus food reaches the right hands instead of going to waste. ✦ What People Can Use It For: Restaurants & Caterers: Easily donate leftover food with pickup requests. NGOs/Volunteers: Discover nearby food donations in real-time and collect/distribute efficiently. Individuals in Need: Locate nearby free food spots via mobile or web app. ✦ How It Makes Tasks Easier/Safer: Automation: Streamlines the donation-distribution workflow using real-time tracking and status updates. Transparency: Donors and receivers get live updates on pickups and deliveries. Safety: Quality checks and expiry tagging ensure food safety for end users. Efficiency: Minimizes food waste and speeds up distribution through smart notifications and location mapping. Smart Contract Address(es) Smart contract is under development and will be deployed on [Polygon / Ethereum / other chain] testnet/mainnet. Other Onchain Proof Test transactions executed on testnet (e.g., Polygon Mumbai). Smart contract deployed; transaction hashes available. Wallets integrated for user and NGO interactions. Onchain logs verify food donation entries.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Faced issues with real-time location tracking — solved using Google Maps API. Trouble syncing data between donor and receiver — fixed with optimized backend logic. Image-based food quality check was tricky — used a pre-trained AI model. Role-based access control was complex — managed with Firebase Authentication.
