About
The problem it solves We want to create a GameFi that allows players from multiple blockchains to participate and earn rewards in a fair and transparent way. Flappy Fox brings GameFi, enabling players to stake ETH/SOL, participate in weekly tournaments, and earn rewards in USDC or exclusive NFTs, all while utilizing the power of Chainlink’s technologies. This idea is especially relevant for the growing Web3 gaming community, where fairness and cross-chain participation are key. **The Problem:** - Limited Reward Opportunities: Traditional games often reward only top players, leaving others without any incentive or recognition for their efforts. Flappy Fox ensures that every player, regardless of their rank, has a chance to earn rewards. - Cross-Chain Participation Barriers: Players from different blockchains struggle with incompatible payment systems and staking mechanisms. This creates a fragmented experience. Flappy Fox addresses this challenge by using Chainlink’s CCIP to enable seamless participation across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Avalanche, and Polygon. - Complex Transactions: Managing staking, ticket payments, and reward distributions manually can lead to errors and delays. Flappy Fox simplifies this process by using Chainlink Automation to handle transactions, ensuring smooth and secure gameplay for all. - Lack of Transparency in Rewards: In many traditional games, reward distribution lacks transparency, leading to player concerns about fairness. Flappy Fox solves this with Chainlink’s VRF, ensuring random and verifiable distribution of rewards, so players can trust the system. - Limited Access for New Players: Web3 gaming can often be intimidating for newcomers. Flappy Fox makes it easy for both Web2 and Web3 users to access the game through a user-friendly interface, expanding the potential player base and fostering a more inclusive community. **The Flappy Fox Solution:** - Fair Reward Distribution: By using Chainlink VRF, Flappy Fox guarantees that rewards are distributed fairly and randomly, ensuring no player is left out. - Cross-Chain Participation: Through Chainlink CCIP, players can stake and participate from multiple blockchains (ETH, SOL, USDC), breaking down barriers and increasing accessibility. - Automated Transactions: Chainlink Automation handles staking, ticket purchases, and reward payouts, reducing errors and manual intervention, making the game smoother and more enjoyable for everyone. - Increased Transparency: Chainlink VRF not only ensures fairness in rewards but also builds trust with players, as every reward distribution can be verified. - Provides token pricing in USD: Chainlink Price Feeds ensure that token prices are consistent in USD, offering a unified and transparent pricing experience for all players, regardless of the blockchain they use. - Integrates liquid staking: By allowing users to stake assets (ETH, SOL) across multiple blockchains, they can earn points for gameplay, enhancing player engagement and providing a seamless way to earn while staking. All of the above features have already been successfully integrated and demonstrated in the video demo. You can check it out at: https://youtu.be/YEr4fqfsuWU
How it's made
Challenges we ran into **1. Challenges with Integrating Chainlink CCIP for Cross-Chain Transactions** The integration of Chainlink CCIP for cross-chain transactions between Ethereum, Avalanche, and Polygon was difficult due to the differences in transaction handling across blockchains. This resulted in mismatched data and delays in processing staking rewards and payouts. So we tested extensively on multiple testnets (Ethereum Rinkeby, Avalanche Fuji, Polygon Mumbai) to ensure transaction success and compatibility. By leveraging Chainlink’s documentation and engaging with the community, we were able to refine the implementation and optimize smart contracts for better cross-chain interaction. **2. Handling Cross-Chain Data and Staking Rewards** Ensuring consistent cross-chain data for staking and reward distribution proved difficult. Staking rewards were sometimes delayed or recorded incorrectly due to differing timestamps and data formats on each blockchain. So we utilized Chainlink’s CCIP for seamless token transfers and employed Chainlink VRF to ensure verifiable and accurate reward distribution. Regular tests on testnets allowed us to fix data discrepancies, while Chainlink Data Streams helped synchronize real-time data across blockchains. **3. Automation Challenges with Chainlink Functions** Automating reward payouts and transaction handling was a complex task due to the need for precise timing and synchronization of staking and gaming data. So we fine-tuned Chainlink Automation workflows, addressing issues with reward distribution and staking updates. Through extensive testnet debugging and experimenting with various triggers, we found that custom logic triggers and time-based triggers worked best for ensuring reliable, timely payouts. **4. Gas Costs and Chainlink VRF Challenges** High gas costs during Chainlink VRF requests for random number generation resulted in transaction failures, and fluctuating gas fees hindered scalability. So we optimized smart contract logic by minimizing storage operations and batch-processing transactions where possible. Additionally, we scheduled VRF requests during periods of low gas congestion and used Hardhat for gas profiling to forecast costs and mitigate high fees.
