IDRX Onchain Escrow for Events & Freelancers
About
The problem it solves In many real-world work arrangements such as events and freelance projects, payment trust remains a major issue. Clients worry about non-delivery, while freelancers and vendors often face delayed or unpaid work. Existing solutions rely on manual transfers, screenshots, and informal agreements, which lack transparency and enforcement. EscrowKita addresses this by providing a trustless onchain escrow system using IDRX (IDR-pegged stablecoin) on Base. Funds are locked in a smart contract and only released after proof of work is submitted and approved. Timeout rules protect both parties, and all transactions are transparent and verifiable onchain. EscrowKita makes payments for events and freelance work safer, clearer, and more reliable, without requiring users to understand complex crypto concepts.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into One key challenge was designing a secure escrow state machine that prevents double payouts, early claims, and unauthorized actions. This was solved by defining strict escrow states, enforcing role-based permissions, and validating every state transition onchain. Another challenge was handling the ERC20 approval flow on the frontend, as users must approve tokens before depositing. This was addressed by guiding users through a clear two-step process: Approve Token → Deposit Funds, with UI feedback at each step. Since IDRX is not available on testnet, a MockIDRX ERC20 token was deployed on Base Sepolia to demonstrate the full escrow flow, with a clearly documented path to migrate to the official IDRX token on mainnet.
