About
The problem it solves **EduMint Fundraiser** leverages the power of NFTs to provide a new, imaginative way for school communities to engage in fundraising. By creating, curating, and collecting NFTs, students, parents, and educators can raise funds for school projects in a decentralized and innovative manner. This project aligns with Zora’s mission by supporting and valuing creativity, enabling students to turn their small creative projects into NFT collections that fund larger school initiatives. Our project addresses the need for effective and engaging fundraising methods for school projects. Traditional fundraising efforts often have limited reach and engagement. **EduMint Fundraiser** solves this problem by utilizing NFTs to expand the fundraising potential, making it fun and accessible for the school community. Students can create digital art, music, and other creative outputs, mint them as NFTs on Zora, and offer them for sale to a broader audience. This not only provides a source of funding but also teaches students about blockchain technology, digital ownership, and the creative economy. #### Key Features: 1. **Creative NFT Collections:** Students create unique digital content that is minted as NFTs on Zora. 2. **Decentralized Fundraising:** Proceeds from NFT sales directly fund school projects. 3. **Educational Value:** Teaches students about blockchain, digital ownership, and the creative economy. 4. **Community Engagement:** Involves students, parents, and educators in a collaborative and innovative fundraising effort. #### How it Works: - **Create:** Students produce digital art, music, and other creative content. - **Mint:** The content is minted as NFTs on Zora’s platform. - **Collect:** The school community and broader audience can purchase these NFTs. - **Fund:** Proceeds from NFT sales fund school projects, enhancing educational resources and experiences.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into The main challenge I faced was time management. As a full-time working mother with a school-aged daughter and caregiving responsibilities for my elderly mother, finding time for the Hackathon submission was extremely difficult. I only had nights and small breaks to work on it. Adding to the chaos, the Football European Championship is currently underway in Germany, which has deprived our team of much-needed sleep! ⚽😴 Although I had many innovative ideas, I lacked the time to consolidate and write them down into a cohesive concept. I also wanted to build software, such as prototyping the competency badges for kids mentioned in the concept, and submit it to the ZORA track to win more prizes for the project and the school. However, time constraints made this impossible. My project submission is not just a piece of code but a social and community education concept, which made it challenging to fit into the typical Hackathon format. This complexity added to the difficulty of the submission process. Time problems naturally also affected my team member, my daughter and visual creator. She had to continue attending school and living her much more important real-life while participating in the Hackathon and following the Football European Championship. 📚⚽ For us, an IRL Hackathon, for which we can specifically take time off, would be a much better option. We hope to receive funding for our own Hackathon in our local community (see project submission). 😊
