    About

Why are you participating for Based LatAm? We are motivated by the growing need for transparency and trust in Latin America’s educational and employment sectors. In many regions, document forgery remains a significant challenge, impacting both individuals and organizations. By using blockchain technology, we aim to empower communities to validate credentials securely and efficiently, contributing to the digital transformation of the region. Our connection lies in the belief that decentralized technologies can solve real-world problems in Latin America, especially in sectors where trust and validation are crucial.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? We are focusing on combating document forgery and credential validation issues. In Latin America, many institutions struggle to verify the authenticity of academic degrees, certificates, and other important documents. This challenge creates a lack of trust in credentials, which can affect hiring processes, admissions, and general credibility. How does your submission address this challenge? Our project provides a decentralized platform where institutions and individuals can upload document hashes to the Base blockchain for future verification. This system allows any third party to verify the authenticity of a document by comparing its hash with the one stored on the blockchain. By leveraging blockchain's immutability and transparency, we eliminate the risk of forgery, ensuring that documents are trusted and verifiable by anyone, anywhere, without reliance on a central authority. Challenges we ran into One of the key technical challenges was integrating with the Base blockchain network and ensuring that transaction costs were minimized for users. Another hurdle was hashing large documents efficiently on the frontend without impacting performance. We overcame these by optimizing our frontend to handle file processing asynchronously and by adopting a cost-efficient gas strategy on Base through batching transactions where possible.
