The Agent for group payments and PoS commerce
Demo
About
The problem it solves DeSmond is the onchain agent for group payments, wallets & physical commerce — right inside your Coinbase wallet chats, powered by XMTP and Base. - **Open it on your Coinbase wallet beta!!! scan the QR above or add desmond-ai.base.eth** - Or if you don't have it, go to XMTP.chat in Production--->go to the uppermost hamburger icon and then: - If you create a new direct message---> type 0xc69449f60de274ca80b6d115019436788df274df ----> speak to DeSmond (you can start by asking: Who are you?) - If you create a new group---> type 0xc69449f60de274ca80b6d115019436788df274df and add your friends----> @ desmond ----- and split payments for example! More examples and tutorials on Repo! Chat with it, test it, make groups and split payments! **This is all PRODUCTION and runs on BASE MAINNET** 🧩 The Problem Managing group finances is messy: Group payments are fragmented across multiple apps. Splitting bills often requires tedious calculations and trust. Managing shared wallets or funds is risky and hard to track. Businesses struggle to coordinate payments inside their communities. No seamless way exists to tie conversations directly into financial actions. 💡 The Solution: Desmond Desmond transforms any chat into a secure financial coordination hub. ✅ Split payments easily — Desmond tracks group expenses and lets everyone settle up directly from the chat. ✅ Manage shared wallets — Groups can pool funds, monitor balances, and execute transactions securely. ✅ Point of Sale integration — Businesses can accept crypto payments instantly, even split ones, coordinated by the agent. ✅ Real-time transparency — Every transaction is logged, auditable, and tied to the conversation. ✅ Safe & programmable — Powered by XMTP, Base, and Coinbase Wallet, with onchain security and programmability. ✅ Reduce friction — No more jumping between apps, links, or spreadsheets — everything happens inside the conversation.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into 1. The first challenge we encountered when developing this project was trying to create our own chat using React Native or Web Browser. However, we encountered a problem with the XMTP SDK for both React Native and Web Browser platforms. The only one that was fully functional was the NodeJS one. 2. The configuration of the agent's basename, since to configure the agent to work through the official Resolver, it must be configured as primary, which was not indicated anywhere in the documentation. 3. The correct format for sending transactions via XMTP was not very clear, so the XMTP.chat web app crashed a couple of times when sending transactions with incorrect formats. For some reason we couldn't create a team after submitting but it was also built by @cartonpotato and @Altaga
