How it's made
Challenges we ran into Blockchain Integration: Challenge: Understanding how to integrate blockchain into the app, specifically using smart contracts for storing and retrieving posts securely. Solution: Leveraging Web3j for interacting with the Ethereum blockchain and using smart contracts for secure data storage. Ensuring proper gas settings and handling blockchain transaction failures. State Management and ViewModel Integration: Challenge: Managing and passing data between screens while keeping the app's UI responsive, particularly with multiple ViewModels. Solution: Implementing a robust architecture with ViewModel and LiveData (or StateFlow) to manage app states and reduce UI complexity. Integrating custom ViewModelFactory for dynamic ViewModel creation. Handling Asynchronous Operations: Challenge: Managing asynchronous tasks such as fetching posts from the blockchain, uploading images to Firebase, and retrieving data from Firestore without causing UI freezes. Solution: Using CoroutineScope for handling background tasks efficiently and ensuring smooth UI transitions with proper use of loading indicators. Firebase Integration and Data Synchronization: Challenge: Ensuring real-time updates and seamless data synchronization between the app and Firestore, particularly for posts and user-generated content. Solution: Using Firestore listeners for real-time updates and carefully structuring the Firestore collections for scalable querying. Image Handling and Upload: Challenge: Efficiently handling image uploads (image selection, compression, and storage in Firebase) while keeping the app's performance optimal. Solution: Using Coil for image loading and caching, and ensuring image sizes are optimized before uploading to Firebase Storage. User Authentication and Security: Challenge: Ensuring secure user authentication and safe handling of user data, especially when interacting with blockchain and Firebase.
