How it's made

Challenges we ran into # ⚙️ Key Technical Challenges & Solutions ## 1. 🎯 VRF Callback **The Problem** What I thought would work: ```solidity uint256 randomness = VRF.requestRandomWords(); // ❌ Returns requestId, not randomness! ``` **Reality:** * Chainlink VRF is asynchronous * Requires callback handling * Subscription management is non-intuitive * **Local testing was nearly impossible** **✅ The Solution:** * Implemented **two-phase callback pattern** * Created **mock VRF coordinator** for local testing * Used **two-phase deployment**: * `Deploy contract → Create subscription → Link them` --- ## 2. 🚀 Hardhat Deployment Dependencies **The Problem** Deployment chaos due to interdependent contracts: * `ProductRegistry` → ✅ No dependencies * `AIRecommendations` → ❗️Needs `ProductRegistry` * `EscrowManager` → ❗️Needs both `ProductRegistry` & `AIRecommendations` **✅ The Solution:** * Fixed using **Hardhat dependency tags**: ```js module.exports.dependencies = ["ProductRegistry", "AIRecommendations"]; module.exports.tags = ["EscrowManager"]; ``` * Used **Hardhat’s tagging system** for structured deployment * Post-deployment config scripts ensured smooth linking --- ## 3. 🤖 AWS Bedrock Fine-Tuning Issues ### Challenge 1: Prompt Engineering for Structured Output **Problem:** AI returned **creative prose** instead of usable data **❌ What didn't work:** ```txt "Find sustainable laptops" → "Here are some nice eco-friendly options..." ``` **✅ What worked:** ```txt "Return JSON: {products: [{name, price, sustainability_score, reasoning}]}" ``` ### Challenge 2: Context Window Management **Problem:** * Large product catalogs **exceeded token limits** **✅ The Solution:** * Implemented **chunked processing** * Sent data in **batches** * Aggregated results programmatically --- ## 4. 🔗 Cross-Chain Message Timing **The Problem:** * CCIP messages took **30s to 5 min**, no predictability * UX was inconsistent due to lag **✅ The Solution:** * Added **optimistic UI updates** (show success immediately) * **Retry mechanisms** for failed calls * **Event-based confirmations** for true cross-chain delivery
