About
The problem it solves BlindBid is a blockchain-based solution built on the Canton Network that addresses critical vulnerabilities in traditional government procurement processes. It solves problems like bid rigging and collusion (where competitors illegally share pricing), insider threats (such as officials leaking bid details to favored vendors), tamperable audit trails, and frequent bid protests due to unverifiable records. By replacing reliance on trust, manual controls, and easily altered databases with cryptographic enforcement, BlindBid ensures bid secrecy, prevents unauthorized access (even by government administrators), guarantees immutable and verifiable processes, and provides mathematical proof of fair winner selection—reducing fraud, litigation, and corruption while promoting genuine competition. People—primarily government agencies, qualified vendors, oversight bodies (like GAO or Inspectors General), and ultimately taxpayers—can use BlindBid to conduct secure, transparent procurement for contracts in areas such as infrastructure, IT services, defense, and construction. Agencies create tamper-proof procurement requests and evaluate bids without ever viewing sealed amounts prematurely; vendors submit confidential bids visible only to themselves until the designated evaluation phase; and auditors gain oversight of process metadata and outcomes without accessing sensitive pricing details. This makes existing tasks easier and safer by automating fairness through on-chain code, slashing protest risks and legal costs, accelerating cycles with reduced manual intervention, eliminating insider leak vectors, and delivering stronger accountability and cost savings through true competitive bidding. Use of AI tools and agents Blind Bid was brought to life through a highly effective collaboration with Claude Code (Anthropic's AI-powered coding environment) and letting it operate by itself. I used Claude Code agent teams to attempt a one-shot implementation plan, letting a team of AIs handle most of the work. After the project was finished, I used playwright to debug ths system and it operated smoothly from there.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into I had substantial problems connecting to Devnet. I had to find a roundabout way of solving this problem by heading to my personal node that with have the Canton Network and deploying the contracts from there. I had several bugs but was able to correct them utilizing playwright cdi. Otherwise, Claude made this project very smooth.
