Why are you participating for Based LatAm? As an LatAm entrepreneur passionate about community development, I’m driven to create solutions that resonate with local needs. LatAm is grappling with sustainability challenges at the grassroots level, where awareness and access to resources are still limited. Participating in Based LatAm provides an opportunity to empower communities by offering a digital platform that bridges these gaps. With Beacon, I hope to encourage environmental stewardship by making it easier for local communities to organize, track, and scale their sustainable efforts through blockchain technology. My vision is to make sustainability a community-driven priority, building a cleaner and greener future. Additional Features During the Buildathon, we introduced a dynamic rewards system, where community members earn tokens for participation based on the impact of their actions. We also integrated educational content that guides users through eco-friendly practices, empowering them with the knowledge they need to make a difference.
How it's made
What challenges are you focusing on? One major challenge in LatAm communities is the lack of accessible platforms for environmental action. While sustainability initiatives do exist, they often lack coordination, transparency, and accountability. Moreover, individuals are often unaware of how they can contribute to sustainability at a local level. The absence of clear incentives further discourages active participation, making it harder to create meaningful environmental impact. How does your submission address this challenge? Beacon addresses these challenges by offering a decentralized platform where community members can initiate and participate in sustainability projects. By leveraging onchain tools, we provide transparency in tracking progress and impact, ensuring accountability for every project. Additionally, Beacon incentivizes participation through token rewards, making sustainability efforts more engaging and impactful. Partnerships with environmental organizations further ensure that communities receive the support and guidance they need to drive real change. Challenges we ran into One of the biggest challenges was integrating real-time environmental data tracking into the blockchain architecture. Ensuring accuracy in tracking community-led initiatives while maintaining transparency onchain required several iterations. Overcoming this technical hurdle involved collaborating with data providers and fine-tuning the platform’s design for seamless data integration.
