    About

Why are you participating for Based LatAm? Latin America faces challenges in terms of data privacy, security, and accessibility, especially in regions where centralized systems are unreliable. I’m motivated by the opportunity to empower people and organizations across LatAm with decentralized technologies that protect their data and reduce dependence on centralized entities. I want to showcase how Base blockchain can be a powerful tool in fostering decentralized solutions that address key regional challenges.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? I am focusing on the following challenges in LatAm: Data Privacy & Security: Ensuring secure, decentralized storage of sensitive data, reducing the risks of breaches and loss. Cost-Efficient Infrastructure: Providing a solution that lowers the cost of data storage by leveraging decentralized platforms. Accessibility: Offering a decentralized storage solution that users in LatAm can easily access without relying on centralized services prone to failure or censorship. How does your submission address this challenge? BaseVault Lite provides a decentralized file storage solution where users can upload files to IPFS and store the hashes on the Base blockchain. This eliminates the need for a central authority to manage or store the files, reducing costs and increasing security. By decentralizing data storage, this project ensures that people and organizations have secure access to their data without reliance on vulnerable centralized services. In LatAm, where affordable, secure, and censorship-resistant solutions are needed, BaseVault Lite offers a decentralized alternative to traditional storage services, making data more accessible, secure, and resilient. Challenges we ran into IPFS Integration: Integrating IPFS with the Base network was challenging due to different decentralized protocols and ensuring compatibility. I overcame this by leveraging well-documented libraries like ipfs-http-client and establishing smooth interaction with the blockchain through Web3.js. Smart Contract Deployment: Deploying the contract on the Base network posed some hurdles with gas optimization and configuring the correct Base RPC. Testing the contract thoroughly in a testnet environment helped resolve these issues. Frontend and Web3 Integration: Maintaining a consistent Web3 connection across different user sessions was initially a challenge. By ensuring proper error handling and connection management in the React frontend, I was able to stabilize the app for user interactions.
