    About

Why are you participating for Based LatAm? As a developer focused on building decentralized solutions, I’m motivated to contribute to the LatAm region because of its growing blockchain adoption and the potential impact that Web3 technologies can have on financial inclusion. LatAm is a region where trust issues with centralized institutions have created an urgent need for decentralized alternatives. By participating in this hackathon, I aim to provide a solution that helps foster trust and transparency, key values for this region's decentralized future.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? One of the key challenges in the LatAm region is the lack of trust in both centralized institutions and decentralized services. With the growing use of dApps and blockchain-based services, it is essential to provide users with a reputation system that promotes accountability, encourages good behavior, and helps weed out bad actors. How does your submission address this challenge? BaseTrust addresses this challenge by offering a decentralized reputation system where users can submit ratings and feedback for services or dApps on the Base blockchain. The system is transparent and immutable, allowing users to make informed decisions based on the experience of others. The potential impact of this project includes improving trust in decentralized services, fostering a safer dApp ecosystem, and enhancing the overall user experience in the blockchain space. Challenges we ran into One technical hurdle I faced was integrating MetaMask with the frontend to allow users to easily submit reviews and interact with the smart contract. Initially, handling user authentication and contract calls required careful synchronization between Web3.js and the Base network. After researching the Ethers.js library, I was able to implement a more reliable connection. On the non-technical side, ensuring that the project design was simple yet impactful for LatAm users required several iterations of brainstorming and feedback.
