    About

Why are you participating for Based Africa? Africa is experiencing rapid growth in cryptocurrency adoption, providing financial inclusion to millions of unbanked individuals. By participating in this hackathon, I aim to contribute to this movement by creating tools that make the blockchain ecosystem more accessible, transparent, and easy to use for everyday people. Africa’s expanding digital economy can greatly benefit from decentralized technology like Base, and I want to help accelerate that progress with practical, real-world applications.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? The challenge of transparency and ease of monitoring blockchain activity is significant for many in the African community. With growing adoption, many new users face difficulties in tracking transactions, understanding blockchain activities, and ensuring the security of their assets. By building tools that make it easy to track wallet activity and get real-time notifications, we address the need for better accessibility and user-friendly tools for crypto users in the region. How does your submission address this challenge? BaseAlert is a user-friendly dApp that allows users to track wallet addresses or smart contract activity in real-time. The platform sends alerts via email or Telegram when specified events, such as transactions to a monitored address, occur. This creates better transparency and security for users who want to ensure their funds are safe or monitor critical transactions. By simplifying the process of staying informed, it promotes broader adoption of blockchain technology in Africa, where trust and accessibility are key concerns. Challenges we ran into One major challenge was setting up reliable notifications in a decentralized environment. Ensuring that users receive alerts in real-time, while avoiding centralization issues, required the integration of external notification services (like email and Telegram) without compromising decentralization. Additionally, handling blockchain transaction data efficiently was another technical hurdle, as querying and filtering events on Base’s network needed optimization to ensure fast response times. These challenges were solved by utilizing webhooks and improving API query efficiency to deliver real-time results without overloading the system.
