Base Atlas
Discover your local Base community
About
The problem it solves **The Problem It Solves **When we organized a Madrid meetup with the Base and Coinbase product teams, we realized something simple but important: there were a lot of people in the city we didn’t know and had no idea how to find. Talking with other local communities, we saw the same pattern — people are there, but the connections aren’t visible. Base Atlas was created to solve exactly that: - Make the community visible → by letting people mark their city or country. - Help people connect → see who’s around and start conversations. - Support local activity → groups and events can be created quickly, without friction. - Strengthen ecosystems → once people are mapped, scaling communities and aiming for bigger projects becomes much easier. **What People Can Use It For **- Discover where other users are based and connect with the ones in your city. - Give visibility to meetups and established communities. - Find other Base communities when traveling. - Bring visibility to the existence of local ecosystems. **Why It Makes Things Easier **Before, meeting people from the community in your city meant waiting for a meetup or hoping to stumble across them in chats. With Base Atlas, you just open the app, see who’s nearby, and even spin up a group or event in seconds. It takes something that was messy and makes it straightforward. How it's made
Challenges we ran into This was our first time building a base app and the biggest challenge was understand the behaviour of the web app within the Base App specially for testing purpuses. This is not trivial since we needed to test with Farcaster login and it makes it very hard to have a non public testing environment to build/debug.
