    About

Why are you participating for Based Africa? I am excited to participate in the Base Africa Hackathon to showcase my project, Athletes On-Chain. This innovative solution aims to revolutionize the sports industry by utilizing blockchain technology to enhance transparency, security, and opportunities in talent development, sponsorship, and event management. The hackathon provides a valuable platform for presenting this idea, gaining visibility, and attracting potential investors. I am eager to contribute to technological growth in Africa through this initiative. Additionally, I recognize the immense potential for networking, receiving feedback, and securing funding or partnerships to help bring Athletes On-Chain to life. Thank you for organizing this event, and I look forward to the opportunity to engage with fellow innovators and contribute to our shared vision for a better future. How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? Transparency in Sponsorships: Let’s face it—traditional sponsorship deals can be pretty murky. There’s often a lack of clarity, which can lead to mistrust between athletes and sponsors. With Athletes On-Chain, we’re bringing blockchain into the mix to create clear and trustworthy sponsorship agreements that everyone can feel good about. Opportunities for Talented Athletes: So many talented athletes go unnoticed because they just don’t have the right platform to showcase their skills. Our project aims to change that by giving athletes a space to highlight their achievements and connect with scouts and clubs who are looking for fresh talent. Event Management Woes: If you’ve ever dealt with ticketing for a sports event, you know it can be a headache. Fraud and inflated prices are all too common. By using blockchain for ticketing, we’re aiming to create a more secure and reliable way to manage events that keeps both fans and organizers happy. Connecting Athletes and Sponsors: There’s often a disconnect when it comes to athletes seeking funding and sponsors looking to invest. Our tokenized sponsorship model is designed to bridge that gap, making it easier for sponsors to find and support the athletes they believe in. Visibility for Local Sports: Grassroots sports often struggle to get the attention they deserve. We want to shine a light on local tournaments and events, helping communities get involved and giving young athletes the chance to shine. Secure Transactions: Security is a big concern for anyone dealing with money online. With Athletes On-Chain, we’re using blockchain technology to ensure that all financial transactions are safe and secure, giving everyone peace of mind. By tackling these challenges, we believe Athletes On-Chain can make a real difference in the sports world, especially for athletes in Africa. How does your submission address this challenge? Transparency in Sponsorships: Athletes On-Chain leverages blockchain technology to create transparent sponsorship agreements. This ensures that all parties involved have access to clear, verifiable terms, fostering trust between athletes and sponsors. Opportunities for Talented Athletes: The platform allows athletes to create profiles showcasing their skills and achievements, making it easier for scouts and clubs to discover new talent and connect with potential recruits. Event Management Woes: By implementing blockchain for ticketing, we offer a secure and reliable solution that minimizes fraud and prevents inflated prices, enhancing the overall event experience for fans and organizers. Connecting Athletes and Sponsors: Our tokenized sponsorship model directly connects athletes with sponsors, simplifying the funding process and allowing sponsors to invest in talent based on performance metrics and achievements. Visibility for Local Sports: The platform features local tournaments and grassroots events, promoting community engagement and providing a space for young athletes to gain exposure and opportunities. Secure Transactions: All financial transactions on Athletes On-Chain are secured through blockchain, ensuring a tamper-proof and reliable environment for athletes, sponsors, and fans. Challenges we ran into The main problems I faced were a lack of funding to attract more developers to my team, as most of the developers I founnd viewed the project as too large to work on without compensation. This slowed progress significantly. I had to do it all by myself at a very slow pace, because I learnt about the hackathon very late. There are so many amazing features to be integrated on the platform, it's a work in progress. This project is a dream for me but I'm restricted.
