About
The problem it solves Many people, from fishers to students and even marine enthusiasts, struggle with identifying marine species and understanding their importance. Traditional learning methods like textbooks and lectures are boring, outdated, and not interactive, making it harder for learners to stay engaged. For non-experts like local fishers, the lack of accessible knowledge often leads to species misidentification, which can cause food safety risks, biodiversity loss, and even legal violations. At the same time, students and enthusiasts lack a fun and engaging platform that can help them learn progressively and track their growth in marine knowledge. No system recognizes their learning achievements in a way they can keep and share. The AquaSnap mini-game app solves this by transforming marine education into an interactive, gamified experience. It makes learning fun through quizzes, matching games, and progressive levels while saving progress, building expertise, and awarding downloadable certificates as proof of achievement. Smart Contract Address(es) We are still working on integrating with blockchain for Aquasnap. The following are for PCSA to reconsider: 1. BNB Chain (BSC) 2. Polygon (MATIC)
How it's made
Challenges we ran into One of the main challenges we encountered was designing an engaging yet simple gamified learning experience. We needed to balance fun and educational value—making sure users not only play but also retain knowledge about marine species and their importance. Another challenge was progress tracking, ensuring that users’ points, levels, and achievements are saved securely to their accounts for long-term motivation. Additionally, we are still in the planning stage for blockchain integration. While blockchain has the potential to provide data integrity, transparent progress verification, and tamper-proof certification, implementing it requires careful research, the right infrastructure, and additional development expertise. Balancing innovation with feasibility at this early stage has been one of our biggest ongoing challenges.
