About
The problem it solves Interactive Storytelling: By combining blockchain with a captivating mystery format, Alpha Social transforms how people experience and engage with an interactive game. Unlike static entertainment formats, Alpha Social lets users actively participate in the story by collecting clues, unlocking exclusive content, sharing theories and betting on suspects. Together users can solve ciphers, visit real websites designed for our characters and hack into their wallets. This level of interactivity fosters much deeper engagement and gives users a true sense of ownership in the narrative.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Coding: Until 7 months ago, I had never written a line of code. I'm dyslexic and I'm a vibe coder so I taught myself how to build a platform by using tools like Claude, Cursor, GPT etc. It was a complex task but it was very rewarding and now I have a much greater understanding of how to code and build applications. Wix to Self Hosting: I began by building a prototype on Wix but quickly realized that there were an array of issues, especially in relation to bottlenecks. Having built a fully functional platform and my own payment app, I then had to rebuild everything to self host on Vercel. I manged to do it in 3 weeks and the platform is now live and fully functional. Databases: Website builders handle databases internally so switching to a Firebase setup was initially daunting. But after a few days, I was able to build and establish full working databases for all my content fetching and purchase flows. Smart Contracts: I initially built a fully functional payment app for my site but later realized that I could just interact with the smart contract to complete transactions. Then I had to create another contract for NFT transactions and later to adapt for batch NFT minting. All of which I managed to do within a few days. This now connects with all my databases and allows for an intricate ticketing system for our 'Guess the Killer' game. Consistent Content: I'm a vibe coder and vibe creator, leveraging AI tools like Midjourney to create visual content. As an award winning TV series creator and writer, my skills are in story, character and dialogue and all of these are original and unassisted. But creating consistent AI characters was initially really troublesome. Now with recent advances in tools like MIdjourney, I can create consistent characters in different scenes and scenarios allowing for a much faster and more accurate workflow. Alpha Social is now live on Base Mainnet and we've carried out several transactions.
